Who says newer is better? As consumers continue to sort and refine media consumption based on content, ease of availability and options, traditional brands have a seat at the media table with other up and coming media content brands. Consumer confidence in some financial service categories is shifting towards smaller more regional brands according to the 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® study as the Financial Services Brands of the Year are released in four categories: Retail Bank (BBVA Compass Bank); Financial Investment (The Principal Financial Group); Insurance (USAA), and Payment Card (Visa). Non-profit Sector Shows Improvement in Brand Equity Despite Several High-Profile Missteps According to 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Study
Animals have a special place in our hearts and families. As such, the national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society is recognized by consumers as the 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Non-Profit Brand of the Year. Additionally, several other animal-focused non-profits that are new to EquiTrend include National Wildlife Federation, the Humane Society of the United States, Audubon, ASPCA and PETA. KitchenAid In Top Spots For Two Appliance Categories in 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Study
As consumers look to replace old appliances, KitchenAid is the brand of choice for both large and small appliances. KitchenAid swept both categories and was awarded 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Brand of the Year in Major Appliances as well as Small Appliances. Within the Major Appliance category, Kenmore ranked a close second followed by Whirlpool. Among Small Appliances, Cuisinart brands took the second and third spots followed by Black & Decker. Target Tops 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Study as Value Retail Brand of the Year
Target Stores have the strongest consumer brand equity among retail brands, and was named as the 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Value Retail Brand of the Year. Travel Sector Showing Signs of Recovery in 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Study
In a year of major airline mergers and baggage fees, no-frills carrier Southwest Airlines was named 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Airline Brand of the Year, with JetBlue making a tremendous improvement to be ranked second. Motorola, Verizon Wireless Lead Mobile Categories Two Years Running in 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® Study Naming Technology Brands of the Year
As mobile networks engage in a very public ad campaign war, Verizon is named the Mobile Networks Brand of the Year among consumers according to the 2011 Harris Poll EquiTrend® study. In the Mobile Networks category, Verizon is highest ranked for the second-year running over archrival AT&T. Harris Interactive announced their Technology Brands of the Year in four other major categories: Mobile Phones (Motorola), Consumer Electronics (Sony), Computer Hardware (HP), and Gaming (Nintendo).
